How it Works

The CranioSacral system (the membranes and fluid that surround, protect, and nourish the brain and spinal cord) have great influence over the body’s ability to function. When we experience stress and tension, our bodies adjust, compensate, and strain. Over time, body tissues tighten and can produce restrictions in the CranioSacral system. This can create barriers to the healthy functioning of the central nervous system as well as all of the other systems that interact with it.

The good news is that these restrictions can be located and corrected through the healing power of touch. In a CST session, the therapist uses their hands to both evaluate and release the restrictions found, therein rebalancing the environment around the brain and spinal cord. This enhances the body’s ability to self-correct and can provide alleviation from a wide variety of issues such as chronic pain and neurological impairment.

SomatoEmotional Release

SER is often a part of our CST sessions. SER organically builds on the techniques of CST to facilitate deep, functional healing from physically, emotionally and psychologically traumatic experiences. We often incorporate SER into CST sessions. The body has the ability to store memories in its tissues and muscles which can lead to pain and imbalances long after an experience is over. SER provides the opportunity for releasing and integrating traumatic experiences, allowing the body and mind to find optimal homeostasis.

“Renn has a way of holding the edges of discomfort in a way that is non-judgmental, kind and spacious. I always leave sessions with a fresh perspective and feel more settled in my body.”
